William Reed majored in fine arts at Portland State University specializing in clay and stone sculpture under the tutlage of Fredrick Littman and James Hansen. He worked as a professionalstone sculptor in Montreal and moved to Italy in 1979 after participating in the 3rd International Sculpture Symposium in Carrara. Living there for almost 10 years he furthered his vision in stone and gained vital knowledge of techniques. He returned in 1986 to the U.S. to teach and work to help others expressin stone their creativity. He established work shopsfor localstone carvers and lectured on the importance of 3-dimensionalstone carving in theVirginia Beach area. In 1993Willie moved to downtown Boca Raton, FL and with hislife partner Jane, opened a professionalstudio teaching localstone carvers. His award winning work isrepresented in permanent exhibitions and private collections all over the world.
